VLC

From VideoLAN's website (the people behind VLC): "VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network."

Run this command in your Ubuntu terminal to install VLC:

sudo apt-get install vlc

Tip: Make VLC look like Windows Media Player 11

First, click here to get the skin named Dalin Media Player from this skins page. Once downloaded, press Alt+F2 on your keyboard and this window will pop-up...

Type vlc -I skins2 into the text box, click "Run" and this window will pop-up...

Right-click anywhere on the title bar and a menu opens. In this menu hover your mouse over "Select skin" and click "Open skin". Your window will look like this...

Single-click "Dalin_Media_Player.vlt" and press "Open". This window will pop-up...

Done!

In VLC, click "Settings" and "Preferences". This window will open...

Double-click "Interface". Your window will look like this...

Single-click "Main Interface". Your window will look like this...

Next to "Interface module", you see that drop-down box? Click it, select "Skinnable Interface" and click "Save".
